just a post to let you know, we have just finished a two hour stint of solid editing and have made a lot of progress we have a 2 and a half minute sequence so far and are still know where near finished so things are looking good for us :-)

Car sequence

We created a sequence which shows the car driving towards, over and past the camera which works really well for the driving aspect of our film. We drove over the camera slowly due to obvious risk assessments and sped it up in Final Cut up to 150% to create the desired sense of speed for the shot. 

Filming Day

On the morning of filming day we woke up to heavy rain and thought it wasn't going to be possible to film due to the lack of continuity it would cause when we next came to film. However, due to the film being set across a time period of two days the weather reinforced this and worked at our advantage.

today is the day when we start filming. we woke up to heavy rain and thought it was a disaster however as our 5 minutes short film has a time period of two days the fact that its raining today really works in our favour as the next time we film it wont be raining which will clarify to the audience that its over two days. 

Surveillance shots

When we film tomorrow, a couple of the shots we plan to do are surveillance shots of Dani walking, in order to create enigma for the audience. We plan to do this by filming in a slight ditch next to the path she will be walking on, and maybe one from a tree above her which will obviously involve a risk assesment. We plan to achieve this surveillance effect by using a hand held camera and the sound of heavy breathing will be heard over top to add emphasis.

Test Shots

This is a practice shot of the close up tracking of the feet. this shot is used to give the audience the impression she is being followed however Dani doesn't know this which creates enigma.

When it comes to the actual filming of this shot, we will work out a way to  give the tracking a more steady shot, with the use of something we can move along with the camera on, along behind Dani.

This is a tracking shot of Dani and with the use of a match on action, we see her flick her cigarette on the floor, to then go to the shot with the camera on the floor and the cigarette in close up, as you see her walk away.

As this is just a test shot, we will improve when it comes to the actual thing, by using a focus pull from my feet, bringing the cigarette into a shallow depth of field.

Just to Confirm

At the moment it does seem like this video may have some relation to being a "pro smoking" sequence however just to clarify the only reason why we feature close ups or ciggerettes and really focus in on the fact that she is a smoker is to build a representation of the character and also give the ciggerettes as something that is specific to the character a link that she has, the purpose of this is to give the shot of the close up on danis cigherette on the floor is that something that belongs to her has been taken from her, it has a good link with the story. this is NOT  a pro smoking video. just so were clear.

Further Planning

a short video explaining another idea, and props we need. this idea is of a phone call to hide identity and further increase enigma and taking the video further in terms of a thriller, and making the possibility of a sudden change in direction in terms of genre more possible. The audience will question who this anonymous person is and where she is being taken to. And what her fate will be.

Location Photos

 These are some of the location shots we are going to use in our film, this is the road below (malthouse way) a quiet secluded road with little chance of disruptions. this location is where we are going to film Dani getting home and leaving before she gets kidnapped. this location should make up more or less 3 minutes of our film so it plays a big part.
